Black Rain

Modsquad is one of those guys that is always reinventing the concepts of 'clean' and 'classic.' His recently finished project
Soylent Green was featured on these logs before, so it seems like he's now moving onto bigger things.
Black Rain is the third project that Modsquad has graced us with, and it's a Lian Li jawdropper. This time, he's started off with the PC-V2100, which is a
big case at 24" H x 24" L. The project borrows a lot of its inspiration from the legendary Harley Davidson motorcycles, as well as some of the guys who customize them.
It's easy to see why this case would appeal to Modsquad - it's clean, elegant, and just plain huge. In the photo in the top right, you can see the only pieces from the gutted shell that he's opted to keep. Anybody in need of Lian Li drive bays, this is the guy to call...
In going with the 'chopper' style chrome and menacing look, a lot of parts have been chromed or will have chrome detail to them. For instance, the rheobus now sports spikes instead of knobs, and the various parts on the right will be used to add elements of theme to normally boring parts of a typical case mod.
Here on the left you can see a couple other theme elements that Modsquad will be using. Also, little bits of coloured acrylic have been added to various parts of the case in an effort to create little halos of light. The right side picture one of two 120mm fan holes, backed with orange UV-reactive acrylic that will glow when the PC is on.
It's easy to see the Harley Davidson theme starting to come out when you look at the connectors, each one capped with a chrome circlet that features an eerie, almost Native American motif. To the right is Modsquad's most recent accomplishment, the coffin vent on the top.
As is the usual with Modsquad's projects, it looks classic through and through. We'll look forward to seeing this one completed. In the meantime, you can check out his rather exhaustive
worklog.
